About

I am a freelance journalist based in Portland, Oregon. I write about reproductive rights, health, and justice. I've covered everything from protests against abortion clinics to forced interventions during childbirth. My work has appeared in This American Life, New York Magazine, Undark, Mother Jones, Huffington Post Highline, The Washington Post, NPR, Vice, The Guardian, Mosaic, Rewire, Wired, The Atlantic, Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, The Nation, The New Republic, Glamour, Buzzfeed, Fast Company, Mic. and KQED. I am a fellow with the International Women's Media Foundation, the International Reporting Project, and The Investigative Fund.

Currently, I’m working on a book about midwifery and maternal health in America—and how it’s changing—for Avid Reader Press. Publishing April 25, 2023. Literary representation by Sarah Phair, Sanford J. Greenburger Associates.

In my previous lives, I studied English and Art History at Cornell University and served in the Peace Corps in Thailand.
