About

I am a freelance journalist based in Portland, Oregon. I write about reproductive rights, health, and justice. I've covered everything from protests against abortion clinics to forced interventions during childbirth. My work has appeared in This American Life, New York Magazine, Undark, Mother Jones, Huffington Post Highline, The Washington Post, NPR, Vice, The Guardian, Mosaic, Rewire, Wired, The Atlantic, Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, The Nation, The New Republic, Glamour, Buzzfeed, Fast Company, Mic. and KQED. I am a fellow with the International Women's Media Foundation, the International Reporting Project, and The Investigative Fund. In my previous lives, I studied English and Art History at Cornell University, worked as an editorial assistance at Washingtonian Magazine, covered startups for a tech news site in San Francisco, and served in the Peace Corps in Thailand.

My book, ACCESS: Inside the Abortion Underground and the Sixty-Year Battle for Reproductive Freedom is publishing on June 24, 2025. You can preorder the book here.

My first book, BIRTH: Three Mothers, Nine Months and Pregnancy in America was published in 2023 by Avid Reader Press and a winner of a Porchlight Book Award.
